At Penbroath Retreats, our approach to regenerative tourism is about making thoughtful, practical choices that benefit both our guests and the place we call home.
Set within a rural setting adjoining farmland, we are mindful of preserving and enhancing the landscape around us. In recent years, we have invested in renewable energy, including solar panels and battery storage, and use an air source heat pump to efficiently heat our indoor pool. Waste is carefully managed, with a strong focus on recycling and reducing landfill wherever possible.
We support the local economy by sourcing welcome basket items from nearby producers, including fresh eggs from our own hens alongside goods from local farms and suppliers. This reduces food miles while helping guests feel more connected to the area, often encouraging them to shop and eat locally during their stay.
We also prioritise low-impact materials and day-to-day sustainable choices within the guest experience. This includes the use of recycled and recyclable toiletries with a carbon-neutral footprint, eco-friendly kitchen products, and Oeko-Tex certified dressing gowns selected for their reduced water usage and lower energy requirements. Where possible, we incorporate on-site elements such as fresh flowers from our grounds and small-scale growing, alongside locally sourced goods, helping to reduce environmental impact while enhancing the guest experience.
We continue to improve our outdoor spaces through planting and ongoing care, creating a greener, more natural environment that supports local wildlife and evolves over time.
We encourage guests to explore Cornwall in a more considered way, sharing local knowledge on quieter beaches, dog-friendly walks, and places to visit beyond the busiest areas, helping to spread visitor impact more sustainably.
